Automotive Technology Automotive manufacturer, General Motors, displayed three hydrogen-powered car models they have recently been working on at a show from September 27 - October 1, 2006. The vehicles displayed included an all-electrically controlled Hy-wire; a hydrogen-powered truck from GM’s Chevrolet called the Sequel, and the Chevrolet Equinox, a small, four-door SUV. These hydrogen-powered cars use wire-based shifting. The term “drive-by-wire” is the use of electrical wires that carry digital data from condition sensors as well as driver manipulations of electronic-powered controls in the cabin. The digital information is applied to the mechanisms to make the vehicles stop, maneuver, and accelerate.
Hydrogen-powered cars are a much more efficient alternative to the modern day fuel burning vehicles. In the next few years, more hydrogen-powered cars will be produced, while our present day cars will fade away. All fueling stations will have to be replaced, bringing a large environment change for the better. All images provided by: http://Imageshack.us
